Yes, arms treaties are important. We need to limit weapons so we can limit war.
But the question is if an arms treaty is more important than saving the US economy.
In a word...
NOT A CHANCE

How can I put this so that my Russian friends won't be offended...
Russia is a non-threat. Their economy is in far worse shape than even that of the US. The bottom line is that Russia can't afford to attack anyone. Even if they did attack the US or our allies, we could offer them a couple of billion dollars and they would go home.
So, do we need to waste time on something as nonsensical as another treaty that no one will follow anyway?
It's the economy, stupid!
